Just a few of the characters we saw celebrating at the Parade...
A lucky day in a LOVELY city! Spent with dearest friends (Pat and Ella) walking about and experiencing St. Patrick's Day Savannah style. Thousands of people showing their Irish pride wearing a festive assortment from Kilts to Flamingo feathers, I think we saw it all. Marching Bands, Pirates, Beauty Queens, Clowns, Shriner's, and so many more. A feast for the eyes, ears and palate.
Amidst the masses of people, I dropped my cell phone. I didn't realize it for about 30 minutes. I pretty much decided that the phone was a lost cause, The battery was dying, no one answered calls or texts to it. !@#%# My spirits revived after a few minutes. I mean really, the day was quite fabulous and I didn't let the phone ruin the mood. AND THEN my friend Ella got a call from my phone and it was a state trooper who said someone had turned it in to her on the street. If I could get there before she left the area (20 minutes or so) MIRACLE for sure! It was a mad dash through throngs of parade parties but we made it in time. A heartfelt THANK YOU to the good soul who turned it in and to the saucy Sate Trooper who kept it safe in her patrol car.
By the time we walked back to Ella's place just a couple of blocks off of Forsyth Park (my absolute favorite park) we had walked miles and miles. the sun had kissed our faces and it was time for an afternoon cocktail. The party in Savannah was just getting started!
